Cobbler, good to see you on here again - always enjoy reading your posts. From someone having such a good season last year, it would seem rather odd that he suddenly "under performed" this season. The guy has been hurt and unfortunately, Luke does not have the abilities to play like Kobe when he is hurt, so I would say that Luke had a dissapointing season, but I'm not gonna "hate" the guy for it.

Exactly! We have gotten spoiled with Kobe's ability to play through pain. Many palyers cannot do that. Luke will be fine. Hopefully he can keep up the performance he has shown in the last several games.

There is a big big difference betqween a superstar playing hurt vs a role player playing hurt, the superstar has a lot more wriggle room in regards to still being able to perform at a pretty decent level. Luke is a good role player and I've defended that all year, even though some of his decision making has been questionable at times. I'd rather have Luke posting up as opposed to Vlad who woul;d be doing turn around jumpers agsint mismatches. If we can get Ariza back and get him some burn in this eries, that would help us out a lot.

With all the focus on Kobe, Pau and Lamar, the other guys including Luke should be able to get great looks if they are aggressive and move without the ball. I do like that Luke takes it to the hole instead of always settling for a jumpshot.

Luke Walton has been absolutely killing the Denver Nuggets in the first three games of the series. I dont know what finally spurred him to come around but I am glad that it did. He is really playing very well and I have been taking him to task as much as anyone on these boards. Go Luke!

Luke is playing terrific. It's not just his numbers, he brings a lot of intangible things to the team. If KB, LO, Fish and PG are the big brothers of the team, Luke is the middle brother who the young bucks look to for guidance. you can tell if you watch the side lines. He's a smart player and everyone likes him, great combo.

luke has only had one good season, in the 06-07 season, ever since he returned from the knee or ankle injury that he suffered he hasn't been the same.

    2006-2007 Season

    Points - 11.4
    Reb. - 5.1
    Asst. - 4.3
    FG% - .474

    2007-2008

    Pts. - 7.2
    Reb. - 2.9
    Asst. - 3.9
    FG% - .450

I know these are only numbers, but there is a severe drop here. He also makes many many mental mistakes as well.

well we got rid of that bum Cook, so maybe there's hope we'll slide Luke into a trade.. did anyone watch his exit interview on lakers website? just a dude with no heart and going through the motions cuz he made his money. he blamed his crap game to uneven minutes and he didn't get to start! and you'd think with a deep voice like that he'd know how to dunk (even farmar can dunk on him). and what's with his smirks in games after he make a stupid play? at least look a little concerned you fool!

I'm not "fareweather" for dogging on this guy. He's had ample years to show something better... and never has. It's not like I'm judging him for a single bad year. Blaming injuries are an easy excuse. If players suck that bad after injuries, then the NBA would be a D-league since so many players have had an injury. Also if Luke was so hindered by injury, he simply wouldn't be cleared to go on the court. Do you honestly think he'd lay an egg if he didn't have a fat paycheck already? Trust me, he'd hustle and play his "mental, high IQ" game no doubt.

Is it critical? yeah. But it comes with the territory when you put on that gold jersey and take a boatload of money. I saw more heart even from Vlade! And I don't get on guys like Mihm because he's truly been injured (=not cleared to play) and shows sincerity in helping the team. Luke will make a fine player in this league as a member of a doormat team, not one of the best teams in all of sports.

Ever since he returned?? He only had one season and he was hurt the entire time, you make it sound like he had a number of seasons and didnt return to his form.

Okay... Rolling Eyes Even though he missed 22 games and returned for the playoffs in 06-07 (his numbers here are very similar to his 07-08 season's numbers). He played horrible throughout the whole 07-08 season, and had one good series in the first round of the playoffs. Then we hear that he was playing hurt. Okay, now he's had his surgery, let's see if he can deliver. If he can regain his 06-07 style of playing then it was the injury that was holding him down. If he can't and he continues to play garbage ball, then he needs to go because he won't get any better than that.
