i know the lakers never played the celtics when they had gasol but...
both of the times we played them we lost
we both have great starting lineups and strong benches
but the celtics seem like they are good enough to beat anybody in the league
if we play them in the finals we could be in trouble
Anyone else scared? |

ive been scare of the celtics since the season started
thats why i want detroit to win the east and we have to play the pistons
I know we can beat the pistons but we cannot beat the celtics
they rebound
block shots
play hard hard hard defense and the key is
THEY STOP KOBE BRYANT
this is the only team ive seen that makes kobe look human
they defend kobe so well that it will be harder to play against them |

| I'm not scared of the Celtics, and to tell you the truth, I'd rather see the Celtics than the Pistons...the main reason is experience, which the Pistons have, and lots of it...well, the truth is that if the Lakers make it to the Finals, I want it to be against the best team in the east, whether that's the Pistons, Celtics, or in some odd scenario, the Cavs...I want to make sure there are no flukes and the Lakers prove just how good they are... |

look at the cavs last year they knocked them off and they didnt have any experience..
cavs were no experience and tehy still made it to the finals..
pistons is not that dangerous like they were b4..
there just like spurs mavs and suns..

Yeah Boston was a tough matchup. We previously would have no shot to beat them without Gasol on our team. I think Gasol and a good Bynum are good enough to beat even the Celtics. Without Gasol the Celtics were able to control Kobe.
If Gasol and Bynum are clicking Kobe is gonna get one on one matchups with whoever the Celts throw at him, which he hasn't seen in the games against the Celtics so far. Also you throw in Odom free to slash post and be opportunistic and I think that creates a whole different monster for the Celtics. I think Lamar would be a possible series breaker in our favor if he would play well. I think Gasol and KG will cancel each other out. KG with the better D. Pau with the better O. Don't know how effective Bynum will be but I think he can atleast match Perkins on numbers at the least. Kobe wins the matchup battle vs Allen and fish and Rondo cancel each other out. Pierce would have the advantage on Odom.
defensively for the celtics I see two possible guys the Celts would have to possibly double team, Kobe and Bynum. KG can hold Pau on his own.
For us the only player we should have to double team is KG, but im not sure of that either considering how unselfish he is and how he rarely gets 25 points these days. Atleast having Gasol now, we can protect Drew from drawing fouls against KG.[/code] |

celtics play tough defense.
But a full power and red hot lakers team can take them out in a 7 games series. |

| With 4 capable veterans in KG, PP, Allen and Cassel....I think its foolish to think that this team has no playoff experience and will be an easier match over Detroit. We need to respect Bostons capabilities first...acknowledge it then learn. Only through that we will beat them. |

| Mano a mano, Lakers are for more superior offensively than any other team in the NBA. The thing with Boston that gives me the ifs..... is the psyche that everyone in their team posses.. The belief that they'll gonna win it all! Well KG and Allen helped build this mindset... imagine who was Perkins, House, Rondo, Powe and Scalabrine before... they are now acting as gangbangers. This was how the Lakers felt the last time they got bamboozled. Have that we gonna beat you mindset. |

I am always scared of the Celtics. This fear goes back to 1969. I wasn’t watching basketball then, but I remember as a youngster reading about it in Sport magazine about the heated rivalry. Then in 1973 I remember telling my sister that I was glad that the Knicks beat the Celtics in the playoffs. After the Knicks went on to win the finals, she said I should have been careful of what I wished for.
I still remember the Boston Massacre. But, strangely, I was not upset about it. It was game one, it was in Boston, and I had a feeling that the new finals format would favor the Lakers. But, with the Celtics you never know.
I have a feeling it’s going to be Boston’s year. It seems that no one can stop them. If we can get all of our players returning and in shape by the time playoff time comes, it will be Boston who should be worried about us. |

We fans can get scared, but you're correct about that. Magic wasn't. He didn't care about the curse or the mystique. He wanted to create his own and he did. Remember Birds look after the Lakers beat his Pacer's team? What a reversal. |

| The Celtics are a terrific team but they don't scare me at all. We have to make it through the Western Conference against tough teams before we even get the chance to face them. They're the least of our worries. |

| I think the Celtics are the ONLY team in the league that can challenge us when we are full strength. Do you realize how big our win was last night? We went into Utah and beat a team that hadn't lost a home game this YEAR and we beat them soundly and we did it without Gasol or Bynum! IF we face Boston in the Finals, it would be in June and our twin towers would be in sync and unstoppable by then. But, June is a long way off and we have to get healthy just to have a chance at making the Finals. |

Yeah, but that was last year...this is a new year, where new things will happen, and where the Cavs' chances of going to the Finals are slim to none...
Remember, we haven't seen our team at full strength, no one has...nobody knows what this team is capable of...all we know is that with Kobe, Gasol, & Odom, the Lakers are good...with Kobe, Bynum, & Odom, the Lakers are good...now, what are the Lakers with Kobe, Gasol, Bynum, & Odom...??? Are they great, or are they still good, who knows...there's also that other guy that I haven't mentioned that brings what every great team has to have, defense, and that guy is Trevor Ariza...Ariza can be the missing link to this team, because he can be the player, other than Kobe, to shutdown Pierce or Allen...sure, the Celtics look scary, but don't you think the Lakers look even scarier, meaner, and hungrier...I do...
