I honestly dont think Marion will stay with the Heat. I think he will go threw free agency and if he does i say we release Vlad and Walton, and Try and Sign him that would look sick! dont no if we have enough money but not a bad idea?

| ....common now lets think this through...kobe and gasol are making alot of money...bynum will want alot more money when his contract comes up...and we have odom the most paid 4th option in nba history....plus releasing luke and vlad wont help we still have to pay them, thats just like giving up free players....so how are we suppose to pay for marion |

hey sorry man i didnt mean to jump on you like that i was just upset with some other things in this forum... yeah it would be pretty sick but like i said, you dont want kobe playing the poiint because he will be using a lot of energy bring the ball up every time. i like having fish because he takes a lot of the load of kobe on the offenseive end of the court. and since kobe is not like most players in the nba, he uses a lot of energy on defense as well so he needs to save all the energy possible. |

| It's a nice though but Marion wants a max contract and releasing Vlad and Luke doesn't do anything as they'd still be on our payroll. |

| Marion wants to be the man/go to guy on the team, so I don't think this is the place for him. |

okay we are good... now this is just greedy... we dont need Marion and we dont need to be THAT good.... basketball wont be fun to watch anymore if the lakers are stacked out of their mind... I want to see some struggle some blood and battle... thats what made this year so special for the Lakers... I like the team the way it is with everyone on it... no more pick-ups... we need the money to re-sign everyone...
I wouldn't mind see-ing us get rid of Mihm... and if we really need the money we would have to dump baby Coby... |

marion's chances on becoming a laker was only this season, but obviously that did not happen.
i don't think he'll ever be a laker, unless we start rebuilding in 894739287423 years, and by then he's already retired. lol. |

| Kiddoes! This can only happen in the pre-salary cap era, where the best players could end up with the best teams. Now, most NBA owners are afraid of the luxury taxes, plus the fact that to complete a trade now adays, requires salary per salary and not with talent per talent. That's the system the NBA is tied for. To create balance in the league. Forget Marion, Lakers can do well with its current structure. |

| Yes, you can only sign a free agent with anything more than minimum is only if you are under salary cap. Even then, you can only sign that player for the amount of money one has below salary cap. E.g. if Lakers has 50 mil in cap room, and salary cap is 56 mil, Lakers can only offer Marion 6 million a year. With bird rights, a team can RESIGN its own players even when over salary cap. |

The dudes ego was too big to play with Nash...now he is going to play with Kobe? LOL! I don't think so!
We are way more well-rounded than PHX and he didn't like not being more of "THE" guy there. He definately wouldn't like playing for a team where he would probably be the 3rd maybe even 4th option.
Nah, I think we better look somewhere else in the off-season. |

Kabron71: You're wrong, these things can also happen on NBA Live 08 and NBA 2K8...........lol.
Why would we need Marion is a question people need to ask themselves. Do we need rebounding? That's one of our strengths - NO
Do we need his defense? Not really, we have Ariza coming back who is a good defender - NO
Do we needhis intangibles? No, we have three players who provide those
Do we need his high contract? Not only no but hell no. He is 29, not a 35 year old winding down his career wanting to win a championship before he goes into retirement. So if he opts out, it won't be to sign for a significant pay cut. |

| Marion game is built on flying down the court. He would have a chance to play with the bulls if they decide to go in another direction with there free agents.I was looking over all the teams in the nba trying to find a team that would wamt him to be the man.I cant find not even one team.He would be a good second option on some teams. The Heat is a good fit for him.Him and Wade plus the draft, then you get a couple off free agents .That team is not for off.We dont want him or need him.Period |

Let's assume that for next season there were no salary cap rules and you could drop and sign whoever you wanted to. If that were the case, I would still not go after Shaun Marion. Have you forgotten why he was traded? He was traded because he was no longer the focal point of the offense. The attention turned from him and went to Amare. He got hurt/offended and demanded a trade. It's funny that there were all these trade rumors of Marion for AK47, since they are in essentially the same situation.
I don't want that ego on our team. He was the second scoring option on the Suns behind Amare. If he came to the Lake Show he'd be at least third behind Kobe, Pau and Bynum. Just because a guy is a great player, does not mean that you just throw him on the team, no matter how sick the lineup looks. |
