If Kobe leads the league in steals, is it possible that he could league the league in steals.

What are the changes he gets defensive player of the year... that would be more special to me than MVP... cuz a guard getting it, is almost impossible.

Its possible last night was a good example Artest did all the lock down Defense while Kobe just roamed around forcing turn overs kinda like Ariza use to do. They played terrible Defense on Joe Johnson in the 1st QT but damn was Ron impressive after that.

That's also one of the things that Kobe needs to accomplish to surpass MJ along with two more championships and MVP nods. Razz

IF Kobe wins defensive player as a 2 guard...I mean how can anyone doubt his greatness after that. I Would love to see him leading scoring and steals, just like MJ use to.

no chance at all Kobe is even top 5 in steals. There is a very small chance he finishes top 10 though. DPOY?? no way, not with the Lakers playing like this. If he can get Drew and Farmar to commit to the defensive end, and if the Lakers are around top 5 in D, all while Kobe's averaging 1.8+ steals and locking down the opposition regularly, there is a chance.

It will be hard for him to win the defensive player of the year now that we have Artest because Ron will be highlighted as our defensive stopper unlike before when it was only Kobe.

In my opinion, there is no way Kobe should get DPOY for roaming. That's why I was appalled that Lebron was in talks for DPOY when he roams a lot and gets chase down blocks.

Two Words. Dwight Howard. No one else is going to sniff the award as long as he averaging 15 rebs and over 2 blocks a game.
