Ok, this is the last game in February, we play the Suns again on Sunday, so we need to take this game seriously and take it to them, we're a good road team, we need everyone to get involved, hopefully the 4th quarter rest for Kobe, Gasol, Odom, Fish, etc helped them prepare for tonight.
Denver is a good team, but we know that Kobe can push his team past all that and get us a Lakers victory, even if it comes down to the wire. I hope the Lakers take the Nuggets serious and come out poised & focused, with a mentality as they do vs teams such as the Celtics, Cavs, Spurs, etc. GO LAKERS!!!!!!!! MUST WIN GAME!!!!!
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/preview?gameId=290227007
Lakers-Nuggets Preview
Despite owning the third-best record in the Western Conference, the Denver Nuggets have reason to be concerned about their play of late. That's especially true with the NBA's top team coming to town.
The Nuggets hope to build off their first victory in almost a week while trying to avoid a sixth straight loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night.
After giving up an average of 116.7 points during its three-game losing streak, Denver (38-20) still found little to enjoy about a 110-109 home victory over Atlanta on Wednesday night to snap the skid.
Chauncey Billups scored a season-high 33 points and Carmelo Anthony added 23 with 10 rebounds for the Nuggets, who shot 50.6 percent, but nearly allowed the Hawks to erase an eight-point deficit in the final 90 seconds.
"When you lose three games in a row, any kind of win is great," said Billups, who rebounded after being held to a season-low three points in an embarrassing 114-76 home loss to Boston on Monday. "But I think the disappointment that we have in the way that we finished the game is just a sign of how good of a team that we are: We're happy with the win, but we're not happy with how we finished the game."
Billups and the Nuggets know that's the proper frame of mind to be in as they try to avoid a third straight loss this season to Los Angeles (48-10), which beat Phoenix 132-106 at home Thursday for its sixth consecutive victory.
Despite playing with a bruised knee, the Nuggets can use another strong effort from Anthony, who is averaging 24.7 points in his last three games. The All-Star forward, though, has been held to 23 combined points in both losses to the Lakers.
While Denver has a 2 1/2-game lead over Portland in the Northwest Division, the Nuggets are 10 games behind the Lakers, who own the NBA's best record.
Denver won 115-111 on April 9, 2007, for its most recent victory in the series with the Lakers, who have won the last two played at the Pepsi Center. Los Angeles is averaging 112.4 points in the last five games against Denver while holding the Nuggets under 100 four times in that span.
Kobe Bryant had 33 points in Los Angeles' 104-97 win at Denver on Nov. 1, and added 29 in a 104-90 home victory on Nov. 21.
Lamar Odom had 23 points and Bryant added 22 on Thursday as the Lakers scored 70 first-half points and shot 57.4 percent against the Suns, who were minus Steve Nash and All-Star Amare Stoudemire do to injuries.
"It is kind of one of those things where we kind of take the night off," said Bryant, who averaged 33.3 points in his previous four games. "I wanted to make sure from the jump that we didn't."
Odom had nine rebounds against the Suns, giving him 129 over his last nine games for the best rebounding stretch of his career. He is averaging 16.9 points and 12.9 boards in 12 games since replacing the injured Andrew Bynum in the Lakers' starting lineup. |

| It will be a hard fought game, but I still don't think Denver matches up very well against the Lakers, so we should pull this one out. It will be a loss if A: the bench plays like a bunch of losers again, and B: the Lakers allow Melo, J.R., and Chauncy to pour in 3 after uncontested 3. I look for Kobe to put up another big game tonight. |

Probable Starting Lineups:
Lakers
G- Derek Fisher
G- Kobe Bryant
F- Luke Walton
F- Lamar Odom
C- Pau Gasol
Nuggets
G- Chauncey Billups
G- Dahntay Jones
F- Carmelo Anthony
F- Kenyon Martin
C- Nene Hilario
53% chance of us winning according to ESPN
Anyway, this should be a big test for us. Nuggets have turned into West contenders thanks to that Billups trade. But when the Lakers want to send a message, they send a message loud and clear.
I expect Nene and Billups to have their nights, but the Lakers will take care of everyone else. The Lakers just OWN Anthony...
As for Kobe, he's going back to Colorado. Lets see if he's still getting booed. That will only get him pissed and I dont think they wanna piss Kobe off. LO and Pau will once again have huge nights. Odom will just own Martin in the paint and off the dribble, while Pau is simply too long for Nene

| If NENE is in we are going to struggle with this team because he is more physical and stronger than Pau gasol...and we have a great chance to lose because he will be defend ed well by neene and we all know that if pau struggles the whole team struggles |

Tonight, our poor exhausted sherpas must hitch up their trousers, saddle up their fighting Yaks, drink their fill of yak milk and blood, and start the steep ascent on the ripid narrow mountain traces to the pot-holed pastures of Fanta Central, the home of the scandalous Denver No Guts. The No Guts are used to playing in these himalayan altitudes and this gives them a huge advantage. Our poor starters are already exhausted from playing so many minutes without help. Last night, against the White Dwarves, they managed to eke out a narrow win only because of the stellar play of the possible NBA MVP, Mbenga! Wilt Chamberlain, get out of the way!
The resident Laker assassins are sharpening their skills, and chomping at the bit. They like to feast on Laker flesh. Carmelina (aka the Yeti) has vowed to have a breakout game of at least 16 points. However, the biggest threat is the Center, the Hawaiian Goose. We must goose the goose, if we want to win this one. The No Guts are a perennial defensive monster. PJ despairs that our team can shoot more than 25% against this airtight defense, much better than ours.
Khan Bulbous Gut, Coach of the No Guts, states "we will concentrate on defending everybody except Bryant. Everybody knows that the Lakers have won only once, in the last 13 years, when Bryant scores more than 80 points!" No Gut spokesperson Katelyn Faber guarantees that the No Guts will bend our players over a chair, and have their way with us.
Woe is us.
Our only hopes are Hot Dog Hero, and Brick Layer (and maybe even Kwai Chang Caine Mbenga).

| If Nene plays, it could be a tough game, but if he doesn't, Lakers by 10 points. Lakers are on a roll and played real good last night. I hope if the Lakers get a big lead again that they play the bench again. Players like Morrison, Mbenga and Brown. That way once the playoffs start the whole team will be ready to do battle. |

| The Lakers are so flat that there is no way they can win tonight. The bench went for zero points while they were in. Luke has missed a lot of three point attempts. Does not look good. Everybody is off including Kobe. |

| I'm not too upset about this loss. The lakers couldn't buy a foul, nothing you can do about that. They also shot the ball terrible, missed a lot of open and easy shots, especially Kobe. Maybe fatigue had something to do with that, with the team getting in Denver at around 5 in the morning. That won't happen again. That was probably the worst shooting game they have played. They will forget about this and move on. |

| Wow our bench is so good that we obviously didn't need to pick up a bum like marbury even tho he's better than ANYONE on our bench. Right mitch u n the real gm dr. Buss r geniouses for not bringing anyone that would strengthen our weak a** bench. Vujacic is garbage n I'm starting to believe farmar can't turn the corner on a senior citizen. This isn't a loss because it was a back to back, it exposed our team in the fact that we don't have any playmakers beside kobe. |

Damn, I think we traded the wrong guy in Rad, we should have traded Sasha. He has become worthless. Farmar didn't score either. The whole bench sucked with the exception of Mbenga. Phil should have put in Morrison and Brown and pull Sasha and Farmar off.

If that was the case, they would have a lot more losses than they do right now. They just played like crap today. When is the last time the bench has scored only 5 points? |

Agreed. Denver was due to get one against us after we've beaten them 9 or 10 straight.
It was a back-to-back where we scored 132 last night against the suns. Maybe they should have scored less lol because the field goal percentage at 29% tonight was horrendous. The effort wasn't there either.
But I have to agree that some, if not a lot of the calls tonight were pretty lopsided. Horrible officiating I must say, but what can you do.
But it's all good, we STILL have the best record in the league and this is just another one of those bumps in the road on the way to a championship. At least it wasn't no Charlotte Bobcats team.
Besides, it's JUST the Nuggets. I feel no threat from them at all come playoff time if we end up facing them. |

| Calm down folks...we just played like crap tonight and that's all. We played horrible defense and horrible offense. No player in particular is to blame; the loss was a team effort all the way around. Radmonovic would not have made any difference; Marbury would not have made any difference. We are fine. We don't need to tear the team apart. Buss is still a good owner. Phil can still coach etc. |

It was a very winable game. The Nuggets were not scoring the rim either, but the Lakers were simply terrible. This is one game I definitely want to forget. But getting back to Sasha. He has only scored like six points in the last five games. He has to do better then that or else get rid of the guy. Get somebody that at least makes a basket every once in a while.
I realize we can't win all the games, but dang the bench was something else. |

Im sure Bynum would have made the difference.... hope he gets well soon |

I realize we can't win all the games, but dang the bench was something else.
Tell me about it. It was killing me. Didn't they only score 5 points or something? The Lakers might have been better off leaving the starters in the WHOLE game lol. Every time the bench came in, the Denver lead grew quick.
Terrible effort all throughout the game. No excuses for how they lost tonight. |

I totally agree with this.
there's gonna be that time when Lakers have their bad nights...
it was very disappointing, but they'll learn from it
and maybe the trip after yesterday's game against the Suns didn't help: John Ireland explained that at around 12:00 midnight the Lakers left and didn't arrive at the airport at Denver around 3:30 and didn't get to their hotel at around 4 or 5... so that MIGHT have contributed to their loss since maybe they didn't get anough rest. |

No doubt that was a factor in them being tired with no rest. |

| Wow this was the second worst shooting game by the lakers since they've been In L.A thanks to Farmars layup at the end they strayed away from 29.4 shooting percentage which was the worst they have had and today they shot 29.8. Just a plain terrible game but there's nothing to worry about and no one to blame, just move on and think about phoenix next |

GUYS!
I give the Nuggest some credit because they made us take tuff shots. Even that, we were not aggressive in the offensive end....I blame this in everybody except kobe!!!!! Kobe tried his a** off to get us clos but out bench was was was really horrible. They just didnt come with any energy and the game was so horribe BECAUSE THE REFS CALLED SO MANY FOULS BOTH ENDS THAT MADE OUR OFFENSINCE HORRIBLE
TO MANY CALLS IN A GAME DOES NOT MAKE U GET INTO A GROOVE ON OFFENSE !!!!
BUT THAT IS WHY U HAVE TO RELY ON DEFENSE! BUT THE LAKERS TRIED GUYS! IF THEY DIDNT THEY WOULD HAVE GOTTEN BLOWN OUT! KOBE WAS GREAT..
BUT I TOTALLY BLAME PHIL TOO ! NOT ALL BUT MOST TIMES
PHIL SHOULD TAKE THIS ADVICE WHEN U COACH YOUNG KIDS IN THE BENCH:
When you play like crap and cant score. Call a time out and tell them to freakin run the offense, that means post up lamar or gasol if they are playing with them.
second..: motivate the bench!!!! wake them up and call the time out and put some fire in there a**! scream and tell them to be mature
LASTLY GUYS, WE HAVE WAY TO MANY YOUNG INEXPERIENCE GUYS OFF THE BENCH! IF U REMEMBER WHEN THE LAKERS WON THE TITLE WITH SHAQ AND KOB, THEY HAD SO MANY VETERANS IN WHICH WERE PATIENT AND DID NOT TURN THE BALL OVER...
WE MIGHT NOT WIN A RING IF OUR BENCH GUYS DO NOT MATURE !
LOOK AT THE BENCH OF THE CAVS, ROCKETS, BOSTON, AND ESPECIALLY THE SPURS...EVERY TIME I SEE THE SPURS, THE GUYS KNOW THERE ROLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
in this bench NOW: sasha doesnt know wat to do in the game and dat goes with farmar, ariza and powel and mbenga!
BENCH GUYS! PLAY DEFENSE AND RUN THE OFFENSE EVE IF IT TAKES ALL THE SHOT CLOCK TO BUY TIME FOR STATERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!no basketball iq on the bench |

Andersen is a beast:
11-12-7blocks in 28 minutes.
If only we had him.... |

Lakers go low in Mile High City:
Nuggets hold them to their worst scoring game of the year as six-game winning streak ends.
Reporting from Denver -- So much for that Chicago Bulls record.
The reality of an 11th loss was one of many issues the Lakers wouldn't mind punting to the nearest snow-dusted mountain peak.
None of them could make any shots, none of them could stop "the Birdman," and all of them were stuck with a 90-79 loss Friday to the Denver Nuggets at Pepsi Center.
It somehow went from bad to worse, the Lakers following up one of their worst first halves of the season with a similarly punchless second half.
A lot of shots went up, but very few went in for the Lakers, who were 5.1 seconds away from the worst shooting night in team history, saved only by Jordan Farmar's breakaway layup.
The Lakers had won nine consecutive games against the Nuggets, including an easy first-round sweep in last season's playoffs, but that was knocked aside forcefully.
The Lakers (48-11) obviously won't be catching the Bulls' record-setting 72-10 regular season in 1995-96.
What happened?
Lakers Coach Phil Jackson smiled thinly when asked those two words.
"I'm supposed to tell you what happened and you watched that garbage for 48 minutes?" he said. "That was a garbage game, no doubt about it. I wish we could repay the fans some money for that game. Neither team played very well, but they played better than us."
The Lakers somehow managed to come off a season-high-tying 132 points Thursday against Phoenix with a season-low 79 a day later.
They shot a dreadful 29.8%, barely beating the 29.4% they shot against Utah in November 2004, the worst effort in the 48-year existence of the Lakers in Los Angeles.
In fact, they were on record-setting pace, shooting only 29%, until Farmar's uncontested layup.
"A horrible shooting effort tonight for us," said Kobe Bryant, who had 29 points on 10-for-31 shooting. "Blame Sun."
Rookie Sun Yue apparently got lost when sent out by some players to fetch several bags of fast food after the Lakers' 132-106 victory over Phoenix.
The team waited on the charter plane at LAX until Sun finally returned and didn't arrive at the team hotel in Denver until 4 a.m. Friday.
"Sun took too long getting our In-N-Out Burgers last night after the game," Bryant said, adding a dose of humor to an otherwise humorless night. "I don't know where . . . he went. He could have went to the one in Compton for all I know."
There was a lot of blame to spread.
Lamar Odom had 19 rebounds but made only five of 17 shots and scored 12 points. Luke Walton and Derek Fisher each made two of seven shots.
The Lakers' reserves were outscored by those of the Nuggets, 47-7, and made only three of 19 shots.
"They're in there with their tail between their legs," Jackson said of the reserves, motioning to the locker room. "They wanted to come out and perform tonight and they really had a terrible performance."
The Lakers trailed at halftime, 46-40, and finished with only 14 assists, tying a season low.
The Nuggets (39-20), meanwhile, continue to be one of the surprise teams of the season, parked only one game behind San Antonio for second place in the Western Conference.
Chauncey Billups and J.R. Smith each had 22 points for the Nuggets, who didn't burn up the nets either, shooting 41.7%
But Chris "the Birdman" Andersen was a force on defense, blocking seven shots and taking 12 rebounds.

Nuggets' great defense slays Lakers:
Tough effort helps snap nine-game skid against rivals.
The Nuggets' otherwise successful season has had an underlying sourness to it that only a signature victory could fix. Check.
The Nuggets got a resume-enhancing, confidence-boosting 90-79 win Friday night at the Pepsi Center over the Los Angeles Lakers, a team that had beaten them nine straight times. And while coach George Karl said the true significance of the victory would be better discussed in circles outside of his locker room, there was little doubt that, from owner Stan Kroenke down to the players, beating L.A. was a necessity.
"This was a playoff type of game for us," Karl said. "It's a great win for Stan Kroenke and the organization. We've all been talking about not beating L.A. Stan and I said, 'I'm tired of this. I'm tired of losing to them.' Fortunately the players felt the same way."
How locked in were the Nuggets? Jordan Farmar's uncontested layup with five seconds left boosted the Lakers' shooting percentage from 29.0 to 29.8, which helped them avoid the worst single-game field-goal percentage since the franchise moved from Minneapolis to L.A. in 1960.
"Tonight, defensively, (it was) as active and as intelligent a defensive game as we've played all year long and maybe ever since I've been here," Karl said.
The Nuggets' defensive effort was so good, guard Chauncey Billups said it reminded him of how his old Detroit teams used to play.
"It was a beautiful defensive game," Billups said. "Especially playing a team like that, you've got to be locked in on a high level. My former teams were always locked in against teams like that and putting out these kinds of efforts."
No two players exemplified the Nuggets' defensive effort more than Chris Andersen, who blocked seven shots and "had to bother at least another 10 or 15," Karl said, and J.R. Smith, who the coach said was the Nuggets' best defender on Kobe Bryant.
"J.R. was a man," Karl said.
Smith finished with 22 points, tying Billups for the team lead. Carmelo Anthony hit nearly every category in the stat sheet with 12 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks. Andersen had one of the best games of his career with 11 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks.
The Nuggets have been in desperate need of validation that their first-place standing wasn't a fluke. While the Lakers came into the game on the second leg of a back-to-back, it bears noting that L.A. was 11-3 in such situations coming in.
Now, Denver has to repeat the feat. Their late-season schedule is littered with contenders. There is one more game against the Lakers, two each against division rivals Portland and Utah, and one each against Houston, Dallas and New Orleans.
"It's a confidence booster for us," Anthony said. "After losing three in a row, coming back against Atlanta and then getting this game tonight really helped our confidence."
The Lakers did draw a crowd. Attendance was announced at 19,920 — the largest regular-season crowd at the Pepsi Center and second largest ever.
