<div class="quotetitle"><b>Quote:</b></div><div class="quotecontent">Yes, this is the way I see it. The Lakers rely on wealth for solutions and mostly, that does not work. To get under the cap and rely on skill and savvy, that's when a city respects and supports their team. I have been weeping for a top point guard since the Smush era, then Steve Blake, and Jordy and now Steve Nash. I thought Crittenten was going to be great and now Darius Morris has similar upside. The Lakers seem to have been off with their timing. From 2004 they moved too slowly and Kobe almost bailed, then they got lucky with Pau and since the championships, they have been moving too fast. it's time to take a deep breath and regather a clear roadmap to success.....without Dwight.

Let, even encourage Dwight to walk and get some value for Pau including a first round pick. It was my view last season that the Lakers were in denial and the problems were not a result of the injuries and changes. If the Lakers decide to rebuild, they will succeed. If they seek to build a team around any of the existing players, they will continue to struggle!
</div>

Skye, the Knicks rely on wealth. The lakers have wealth but rely on skill and savvy (S&amp;S). It takes S&amp;S to make the move that lands you the #1 pick, and you select Magic. Same with Worthy. Takes S&amp;S to trade for Wilt, and KAJ. It takes S&amp;S to trade a starting center for a SG straigtht out of HS. No one had ever drafted a guard start out of HS before that. It takes S&amp;S to trade for Chris Paul, while keeping Bynum so that you could also trade for D12 and pair them both with Kobe.

Lakers are the epitome of S&amp;S Skill and Savvy. If you looked up S&amp;S in the dictionary you would see the Lakers' logo with an honorable mention to Jerry Buss.

He cannot decline a Pacers deal. If Indiana makes George a qualifying offer, the choice is taken out of his hands.

I found out today we still give Dwight Howard the best offer,yesterday i thought otherwise but my NBA CBA friend called me and we talked about Dwight Howard and he told me yes Dwight gets the best money offer from us and we offer $30 million dollars more than any other team and a fifth year.So he should stay put.
</div>

If you had followed @EricPincus, who officially does financial stats from media for all teams in the NBA you'd know your CBA friend forgot to mention to you that D12 is looking into Rockets and Mavs as possible destinations and since Texas has no income tax over 5 years span that 30 mil Lakers can outpay those teams will be almost completely negated by lack of income tax - he'll be saving around 10 mil...</div>

Yeah i never mess with the CBA much,my friend Brad is the one that called me he is a nerd that loves to crunch up numbers in the NBA.My NBA CBA friend is just a math wiz Brad.He loves the NBA and he just knows the CBA better than me.I know it a little by what's on the internet.

Sorry i didn't know Dwight Howard would get $10 million dollars extra by signing with a Texas team,i thought the Lakers offered $117 million dollars as opposed to $87 million dollars that other teams are allowed to offer.

Lakers offer 5 years,other teams offer 4 years in contract length.Oh so i thought.But yeah i will check out Eric Pincus on Twitter when i get time.Isn't Eric Pincus also emplay from all the other Lakers forum sites?</div>

The state income tax issue is grossly simplified and misrepresented. It's not a matter of solely calculating the tax difference. State income tax is deductible from federal income. Also thanks to Prop 13, both property tax rate and maximum annual increase is several times less in California than Texas.

                                      Jordan was an eficient defender who used his physical ability, advanced to that time, that allowed him to develope his reputation while he was playing in a system, which at the time, was the best defensive system that was in the NBA. The Chicago team played EXTREMELY well without Jordan until Horace Grant departure, and was the only player who has played with a license to kill.

If Howard does not sign with the Lakers it will free up lots of money where the Lakers can go after some good players. We do not need a super center, but the Lakers can use some good shooting guards, small forwards.</div>

True...as long as everyone knows it doesn't free up ANYTHING in the way of $ for the summer of 2013 at all. It would save the Lakers a boatload of luxury tax money and that's it. Does not change our current cap sitch one bit.

true. Lebron still has a lot of talent around him. Battier, allen, miller, bosh, haslem, chalmers. All very good role players for lebron.</div>

Yeah but after next season? Allen will retire for sure. Battier probably will too, or he'll at least be much worse. I doubt Miller can hang in there, with all the issues he has had. Haslem's also old. Only good &quot;young&quot; players Miami has are Bosh, Cole and Chalmers.

You have good post right there. And we feel the ame thing that we have to find our right coach for this team. You know whats my idea on this one? Get a new and young non-big name coach or maybe atleast nate mcmillan type. Who doesnt have specialty on one end. We all know what happened with dantoni and brown for being too one dimensional. The other one the defense suffers,while the other offense suffers. Its time to get two way coaches who can coach both offense and defense. I still do think its possible to get that guy. Im not a fan, of coaches who specialized on one thing. Well, tim and vogel are good coaches but their offense really suffers for being too one sided. They say nate mcmillan focuses on defense but he is not, he is a real coach, he balance those two things into one both offense and defense. Not just being too one dimensional.If oden and roy was healthy they should be contenders for now. Nate brings new energy, new attitude a teacher and a motivator.

For the personnel, you are right the moment they hire the wrong coach in brown for post phil era. The rebuilding process should have been started. We know we didnt get paul but we should have completely trade pau for houston at that time. In his mind, he still remembers that trade very well as he said in his exit interview. He knows he is not safe here anymore.i like the individual moves the lakers made i just dont like how they fit the pieces together in, they just contradict to each other. This is why i think the lakers need to hire another guy who has a knack in basketball. Jim and mitch had good names but they dont play basketball. They must be playing hoops in the street and took steve nash to show his and1 skills on the street. I feel that way for them.thats my impression to the FO. They dont have basketball knowledge ,they dont know who to recruit and we always live in to trades and poor second round pick players. Because we are still living on the past which is kind of a bad thing. I like the tradition this team has but, by doing jus trades and free agents to get big name players.aint that effective anymore.We also need to get talent in the draft. This guys mitch and jim are living onto the past, they should have realize this now that they should change their ways. Its no problem in changing ways but to be able to have the same intention into bringing the laker tradition which is winning,winning and winning. Is good principle to have right? Just as long we are winning. They have to adapt now, adaptibility is also the key for this team. People like here also like to bring new young blood in coach and players but hiring some new scouts and gm to replace mitch must also happen. Because he is old and like to stick on his own ways. Just like old people like to do.</div>

Nice reply man, thanks.

I like the idea of Nate Mcmillan, but he wouldn't have fit with the current roster, altough better than D'antoni. He is a good X and O's coach, but plays a bit too fast for our roster on offense. His deffense is actually better than the numbers show, remember besides Camby for a year, he never had defensive players inside. His reputation though, comes from his payinng days, when he was one of the best defensive guards in the league. Still I think, he is good with developing talent and motivating and disciplining players, something this team could use.

To me, it's funny how a franchise that was on the verge of collapsing financially oversaw the coacihng situation, the right way to me. New Orleans. They saw Monty Williams as a great coach and stuck with him, even if they have a couple of losing seasons in front of them right now. They have the centerpiece to build they're team around now. Even with CP3/West &amp; the others he did great and caused a lot of havoc in the league. Ever noticed how many good players came out of that team afterwards? Carl Landry,Thornton,Pondexter,Jack, Tyson Chandler turned into great players, because Williams showed them the way.He developed some, the ones that were in the NBA longer, he made into better players, corrected their flaws etc..
He also has a great grip on every decision the team makes, he pushed for the Gervis Vasquez trade for example.

This is a reason I thought we should've stayed with Shaw, if nothing else, he would've commanded less money &amp; been easier to fire than D'antoni or Brown.

Anyway, I agree with you too, that Jim doesn't know anything...Mitch is very capable though, he was a very smart player during a great championship team. My take is that he sometimes is too pressured for market/money reasons, besides he always has let the Buss family puppet him around in his job. Proof is, when they didn't he did the best deals for us.

Lastly, winning should always be the principle, the thing is how do you want to win and how you do it. Lakers tend so much, to guide themselves by these empty statements and sometimes over simplify things, just like we saw. Best players doesn't equal best team.

Anyway, I still stand by my point that Lakers are already in rebuilding mode, just in a very peculiar way and trying to skip some steps along the way.

The comments about Gay's high usage rate minimizing the talents of other players on the Grizzlies was especially revealing. I can't help but think we have a lot of that dynamic going on with the Lakers too.</div>

You're seriously right about that. It's so often unoticed, that a certain type of players, normally it's the wing-type borderline allstar guy. They so many times bring down the other guys because of their own playing still, which is very ball demanding and dominating, but without a good enough efficiency rate wheter in assists, assist to TO ratio, shot selection/scoring. The same goes for consistency sometimes.

It's spread throughout the league in many teams. Indiana had the same &quot;luck&quot; when Granger went down, everybody else got better. Monta Ellis is to me, the greatest example of that, look at when he left the Warriors, especially before Bogut came back. To think, Steph Curry's explosion has nothing to do with that is just flat out delusional.
T-Mac was another prime example of those type of players. Josh Smith, Joe Johnson...before all of them Iverson... the list goes on and on..
All of these guys are good ballers, but none will bring a team to a top level on his shoulders.

Lakers have the same problems with Dwight &amp; Kobe, the only difference I see in that s that since Kobe's talent is way higher than every other of these players and that he is consistent as hell, it doesn't shine through so much or even if it does, it still brings better results.Howard is a whole different story. Also because during the last championship run and recently, Kobe has learned to get others involved more.

OKC really had their sights set on him before he got injured. Don't know how they would work out salaries though.

Makes sense for me if Bucks pursue him. They got some assets and could seriously use him.

                                      Dude this guy was so chill. Me and my Dad got to hang out with him on the floor at the Summer Pro League back in 2006. I was in 7th grade at the time so I didn't know who he was until he introduced himself. This is REALLY sad news. I got a picture with him.

                                      Clippers will not be able to afford West. He will stay with the better team (Pacers). For years now the Clippers have had good players only to let them go to other teams that would pay them good salaries.
