We need a starting PG, SF, SG in addition to better bench players. Our 2nd round pick will not bring us any help at all. Only through free agency and trades will we be able to improve the team and that will not happen overnight. So why are we even talking about a draft that we really cannot benefit from? Everyone here is living in a dream world and afraid to face the reality of the Lakers position for this team next season. Remove your rose colored glasses, get off of the pot and alcohol and look at the fact that we are one year older, with a superstar in a cast and a center that may or may not be with us next year. This is reality!</div>

...With the GSW, Houston, and Memphis all on the strong uptrend, might I add!

To think that we are going to make any length of loud noise, whatsoever, next season, is pure fol-de-roll, and the game of the blithering, self-deceptive fool.</div>

agree. we wont make the playoffs next year, houston, warriors, wolves, blazers with improved Lillard. i dont see us next year.</div>

Me, Neither, Mr. Cobarde... Me neither.

We need youth, athleticism, players that can knock down a damn decent shot when your open, versatile players who can pick up tha slack on defense around tha perimeter.

<div class="quotetitle">BaadMaster wrote:</div><div class="quotecontent">You can't always get the best player available, even with the Lakers cache, but you can ALWAYS hire the BEST coach available. There is no salary cap, you can hire and fire at will.

Any NBA level coach, even the worst, can have a 26-37 playoff record with no rings. In fact, I have no rings. I guess I am as good as D'Antoni, using that as the standard.

After all, when a coach leaves a team like the Knicks, and the very same team under a new coach becomes an instant contender, it doesn't take the brain of an Einstein to see that the fired coach is a pile of manure. In fact, just &quot;ure,&quot; because D'Antoni is no &quot;man&quot; in leading an NBA team.

So, when a guy with eleven rings is available, you get him. Guys like that are very rare. In fact, there is only one.

Watching Mark Jackson especially sickens me, because you see how he loves his players and the players love him. EVEN WHEN THEY LOSE. And when they lose there are no marbles in his mouth like &quot;Captain Marbles.&quot;

And the fact that D'Antoni is still around after working Kobe to death astounds me.

If I were Jim Buss, and some guy risked my number one gate attraction just to win games he should have won early in the season, I would have fired and then sued his as* for incompetance. Or some such reaction. We all knew Kobe was being worked like a mule. We all saw it. It was a train wreck with Captain Marbles at the command.

And this man, with no rings, a lifetime losing playoff record, marbles in his mouth a superstar on crutches due to over-use and an All-Star center that hates him is still OUR coach -- the Glorious Purple and Gold -- is despicable,

Excuse me while I puke.</div>

Hold on, let me get a bucket for the both of us. You know what? From now on I'm gonna pretend like phil or sloan is our coach and I'm not gonna give dantoni anymore of my negative energy. It seems the more we hate him the more jim is hell bent on keeping him. join me laker nation!!! Lol. We can get phil or sloan back with our positive energy towards them....the same way we got dwight!

Never was a fan of Chuck &quot; The Rifleman&quot; ... When did he all of the sudden become a defensive GURU... Dude couldn't guard when he was in the league

Bernie, got the shaft but I'm all for new blood on the staff if they decide to bring in a new coach.. I think Gentry comes</div>

I think it must have come from that one newspaper article about how he came up with the defensive scheme in 2011 of funnelling driving guards to the baseline where Bynum could cut them off easier.

But there was no real follow-up to the story about how it became untenable and several of the players thought it was the undoing of the team in the long run. So...now he's a defensive guru. <img src="modules/PNphpBB2/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif" alt="Laughing" border="0" />

Person was not a very good defensive player--not that you have to be in order to be a good coach. I always thought his best fit would be as a shooting coach. Oh well....</div>

The lakers players always have issues with something just in case you never noticed the pattern. Chuck came up with that scheme because the guys weren't able to guard anyone straight up. People seem to forget he was the defensive guy in Indiana back in the day and those Indiana teams were good defensively.

Yeah bring in the Van Gundy brothers, that'd be a perfect fit with Dwight.

^ I think Sessions was dumb about his contract too. No doubt he has his pride, but he had to know he didn't prove himself in the playoffs or in that short time with the Lakers. Maybe with another year of experience he could have shown more of what he could do. The Lakers could not afford to sign a pg long term who was going to disappear when the pressure was on. Yes, some of that disappearance has to be attributed to Mike Brown slowing the team down so much that Sessions lost his effectiveness....but how were they to know for sure how much of that was on Sessions himself? That deer FROZE in the headlights.

People forget about sponsorship deals that make the salaries and taxes look miniscule. I love this: Technology makes your location less relevant. I agree if you live in Cleveland or Orlando, but like in Real Estate, location location, location rules as well as the Team you are playing for. Remember a fella in Cleveland who left for the greener pastures of Miami in search for the gold in winning championships?

Why do you think TWC paid the Lakers as much as $4-5 Billion for 20 years or why they have 16 championships! The Lakers are a world wide phenomena that is the gold standard for excellence in winning. Did you hear the Rick Fox interview about how he took less money to come here to win and in the end he has so much more sponsorship and media offers after his retirement. Technology can enhance but cannot make a winner out of a loser!
